Who Am I?
Liz McQuarrie, LCSW-C
(she/her)
I am passionate about working with teens, young adults, and adults on developing a healthy sexual self. In sessions I focus on self-confidence, identity/role changes, relationships, and system inequities. I am sex-positive and kink-affirming and enjoy working with people across cultures and identities. I have worked with children and families in rural and urban areas, homes, schools, foster care, and group homes. I am knowledgeable about the impact of trauma, attachment needs, and the connection between mind and body.
The best work comes from a trusting, genuine connection between therapist and client. I want to understand what’s important to you and to provide space, compassion, and non-judgment to help fully explore your needs and create a plan to meet them. Therapy with me often feels like a combination of conversation and education. When you complete therapy, you will have new ways of thinking, tools to manage life’s difficulties, and an identified community who can support you ongoing.
I have been trained in the following frameworks and modalities and use them when appropriate in sessions:
University of North Carolina at Greensboro (2007) — Bachelor of Science in Social Work
Columbia University (2008) — Master of Science in Clinical Social Work
University of Michigan (2024) — Sexual Health Certificate Program
